Soundscene is a voluntary organisation that has been producing and distributing over 150 memory sticks a week, containing local and district news, short stories, quizzes, recipes and relevant information from The Royal National Institute for the Blind (RNIB) and associated societies, for some of years.
These recordings are produced in our King Edward Street studio, and we rely entirely upon donations to finance this work. A player will be donated to each subscriber on request.

The centre of operations is based in a small studio in the new Business Centre on King Edward Street in Grimsby.
These volunteers dedicate their time to ensure that you, who may be visually impaired or blind, can listen to stories, quizzes and much more featured in your local paper.
Several groups meet each week in turn to record news, quizzes, stories and other interesting articles.
These recordings can take up to a full morning with several retakes.
They take it all in their stride to ensure the best quality is recorded.
The technical part is mixing the sound from each of the readers to ensure they are at the same volume on playback on your unit.
As you may appreciate, each reader may speak at a slightly different level from another when reading.
If you wish to volunteer your time to this part of the process, training will be given. Please remember, that all areas of producing the end product take time and dedication.
